CW-5000 Chiller

I have a CW-5000 chiller that has all of a sudden started alarming without a alarm code. it also will not allow me to silence the alarm. Nothing in the owners manual that covers this issue as well. anyone ever run across this.

These have relatively low cost chiller controls.

If you didn’t change anything, it’s probably had it. You can get them from ebay and amazon…

This is a non compressor unit. So the alarm only sounds with low flow. The low flow signal comes from the flow switch which can be replaced. You have to open it up and it’s located on the back panel.
I first would connect output directly to input using short hose to verify the switch is bad.

@dean448 Great point.

Here is a listing for a flow switch on Amazon

5000 chillers have compressors, 3000 chillers are radiator/fan type.

I stand corrected Jack. Which means it could also throw errors due to temperature. Which could require a change to the alarm temperature limits. Or larger problems… good luck.

Its possible that the non-stop beeping from the unit is due to a few different reasons from a non-functioning water pump, high temperature, stuck water flow sensor, debris in the water system or a kink along the line.

  • if you open the side panel of the chiller you’ll have the pump area exposed and if you give it a few strong taps while it is running this may loosen up any debris or dried water in the pump to help clear the lines.
  • Ensure there are no kinks in the water line to your laser unit and there is plenty of water in
  • Water temperature should be within 68F-77F range with the low end being optimal, if the water gets too warm it can trigger the alarm but in most cases this would occur over time and not instantly.

On the top sticker of the WC5 unit you will have factory reset instructions and it’s possible just this module needs to be reset.

While the machine is off push hold the Up and Down arrows while you turn the chiller on and you should see rE on the LCD screen and once you do let this sit for a few seconds and turn the unit off then and back on.

Cheers :beers:
