I’m a newbie so go easy on me!
I’m having problems with my D1 - I have followed the guide that xTool released on how to add the laser into Lightburn. I imported a project to make a guide for my honeycomb base and when trying to frame the project, 2 things happen:
The laser disconnects and reconnects constantly
The laser is grinding in the back left hand corner.
After looking at the console, it says that the “Port failed to open - already in use?”
I have uploaded a video to a streaming website which can be found here - IMG_0296
Can anyone shed any light on the issue? I have tried 2 different cables, and running the most up to date software.
seems you have a USB extension cable?
First thing i woudl do to diagnose is to bring machine closer connect DIRECT
Also make sure your power adapter is the correct one for the machine
Thanks for the very prompt reply. I’m about 1.8m from the machine. I’m using the power adapter which came with the laser. One of the cables has ferrite devices, and one does not.
When you say DIRECT?
i assumed there was a USB extension cable or a 3rd party cable that was bigger
seemed that you were further apart from the machine than what you say
The behaviour of the machine though is as if its power cycling, rebooting
This is either a bad usb cable or a bad power adapter
Triple check, for sanity , the label of the power adapter
Also make sure it HAS power from mains
The power adapter is connected to a mains socket. I have my air assist plugged into an extension lead, but it’s off during the videos. I have just found another USB A-B and it is doing the same thing.
Here’s another video I’ve just taken. Again, it does this when I try to Frame the project. - IMG_0298
When not framing, it says the device is Ready, and the fan spins at a constant speed.
Attached as requested.
I have checked for firmware updates and XCS and have removed the device from Lightburn, downloaded a fresh version of the lbdev from xTool, and imported it into Lightburn. Now, the console is saying that the “Port Failed to Open”
ok so… i think the machine is doing what you are asking it to do
Few things you must remember
a) machine has NO idea where it is unless you - programatically - tell it
b) i cant be certain on the picture but seems you are in CURRENT POSITION - center center
now lets think on this
your laser head is on location Z… which by your video is TOP LEFT corner
Lets assume machine does not know any better
now. you are telling it. CENTER my object from WHERE laser head is
This means. literally you are telling your laser to go UP half the object size, LEFT half the object size, so your center is where laser is
This implies, it has to RAM into the frame
Try moving alser head to center by hand. and try frame again. it should work
That makes sense, I have changed to Absolute Coords and pressed Home. It took the laser to back left which I assume is going to resolve the grinding issue - Thanks for this!
However, it does still disconnect during framing. Picture below of exactly what’s happening in the console. Any ideas? It is working fine when I Home the device, but just seems to cut out in framing. Is it possible that the SD card on the device is “Clogged” so to speak with the jobs? A bit like printing spooling?
Sorry to bombard… This appears to be an intermittent issue, as it’s just framed something and then it disconnected after framing, and then when homing and framing again, it disconnected mid way through. V strange.
I think you’re right that it’s the power adapter. There is a little green light on the adapter that is flashing as if losing power. I will try in another socket, and report back to see if it’s an issue my end.
Can I just extend my thanks to you again for you helping me, as a newbie you have been an invaluable source of help to me. Thank you and Kudos
