Decimal point on strike?

I’ve always used the decimal point on the numeric keyboard until yesterday. Typing 125.56 into shape properties gave 12556.00! I’ve changed the decimal point to a comma and it functions as before. I have a Spanish keyboard and run the latest version of Linux Mint. Is there an explanation for this or is there a corruption in the app? I downloaded another copy of the app and it was exactly the same. I’m not very computer savy and don’t want to explore the depths of the app.

I believe it’s regarding the locale settings in gnome/KDE/whatever. I recall a similar thing happening with CSV imports on a windows machine with German language setup. The method to change it per app on Linux is desktop environment dependent, and may also interfere with keyboard layout in the specific app.

Thanks. I went into keyboard in system settings and in the options there is a way of changing the decimal point to a comma. It now functions as it should with a comma. What I don’t understand is why it suddenly changed.
