Just set up new Omtech 758 and downloaded Lightburn and purchased licence.
NO DEFAULT LIBRARIES to load - no idea where to start without some default material pre-sets. Where are they / should they be / can I download them from ?
80W laser but initially mainly used for card - even supplied test file from Omtech is for wood or acrylic
I go to laser everything.net. They have some downloadable libraries to get you started. Everythingās trial and error. Make sure you have plenty of test pieces before ruining expensive products.
Lightburn does not come with some ābasic settingsā or material libraries. The settings are so specific to the many machines that you have to gather the necessary experience and the settings yourself, for the different materials. It is actually part of the process of being able to operate its machine properly. (In my opinion)
Iām sure it will become so, bit with absolutely no experience of laser cutting technology and all instructions relating to Lightburn and getting started on Omtech laser cutterrs starting with āload the material libraryā - WTF am I supposed to do, apart from spending a week setting fire to stuff ?
I have never seen or read that yet.
Possibly some laser machine brands run with preloaded settings, or have QR codes on their own materials or the like, but OMT, which makes maybe 30 different machines with xx different Watt sizesā¦, that is not possible. And even if you use my settings from my 60Watt OMT CO2 laser machine, you cannot use it on an equivalent new machine.
It is part of oneās own setup of oneās own specific machine, it is just like any other normal CNC, there is also no āautoā or āstandard settingsā button, not even a modern sewing machine runs automatically.
ā¦you probably wonāt be able to settle for a single week, itās a never-ending process. But there is comfort ahead, you will get better and better with time and here in the forum there are many who will be able to help you with concrete technical questions, myself included
A few hours running Material Tests
will speed the process:
Start with cardboard until youāre accustomed to changing all the settings and seeing the results.
