Deleting Image Layer also deletes newly Traced Object - (v1.5.06)

Once I’ve traced the image, IIRC, I’ve gone and then deleted the Image Layer in the Cuts/Layers list but the Line/Fill layer created remained. Now they both are deleted. Has it always been this way or am I just not recalling correctly?

I can select the image in the workspace and delete it and the traced object remains, so that works. Just don’t recall this being this way.

It’s as if they are linked together in Cuts/Layers list but not in the workspace.

How do you delete the image from the cuts/layer list??

I worked a lot with tracing today, and here everything is as it usually is, ie. I delete the imported drawing/photo and the traced result is left over. (ver. 1.5.6. and 1.7.)

Yes, delete the image in the workspace and it works as designed, i.e., leaving the traced object behind.

However, deleting the image layer by selecting the image layer in the cuts/layers module, then using the trashcan on the right-hand side of the cuts/layers module, that function deletes both the image and the newly traced object. Again, it’s like they’re tied together in that module.

It’s correct and I can reproduce it. There will be a warning message to hold the Shift key down … but it doesn’t work properly.

Yes about the warning and the Shift Key not working properly.
Also, if you go ahead and delete, then undo, the image layer is moved to below the traced layer in the Cuts/Layers module when before the delete function, the Image was above.

To my recollection, tracing has always put the new trace layer under/below the image.

Anyway, I only noticed it because I’d previously set the traced layer to not show, then when I did the delete followed by undo, the traced layer landed above the image layer and wasn’t visible.

Sorta freaked me out for a moment until I realizied what was going on. Ha!

I’ve got the exact same thing happening.
