Design changes between Windows 10 and MacOS?

I am wondering if anyone has seen this type of problem before and how to resolve it or if this is a new issue? In my environment, we have a mixture of Macs/Win computers. Recently, we have seen issues when creating designs on one flavor OS, saving it and then opening it on another OS. For this example, let’s say I create a design in Windows, then save it. Later I open it in MacOS. In this process the Y axis of the design is no longer in alignment. (whether grouped or not). While in MacOS, If I correct the misalignment and resave the design, when I open it again in Windows, the Y misalignment is back except offset the opposite direction of Y. I have not seen anything like this until very recently. If I open some of our older designs and modify them, we do not see this same result. Any Ideas?

I’ve never heard of anything like this. Based on the design I assume the words are no longer text and have been converted to paths. Can you confirm?

Are you able to upload a Mac saved version of this where it’s aligned properly? I’d like to confirm the behavior.

Yes,the design has been converted to paths. I have attached a Mac corrected file for your review. I did verify that this file opens misaligned in windows.
Names.Crosses_TestMac.lbrn2 (280.7 KB)

Loads OK in Linux, modulo not having the fonts:

Looks like a Windows thing …

Windows 11 here. Even worse.

I’m not seeing the same issue:

But there may be a few things going on.

Note that I got this message when loading the file.

So it appears that font text is still somehow perceived to exist in the file.

If that’s the case, then it’s possible that what I’m getting is the fallback path that LightBurn includes for fonts.

You may want to make sure that absolutely everything is converted to path.

If it is related to a font issue I’m thinking it might be either that the font is rendered differently between Windows and Mac or is it possible that you have slightly different fonts loaded for this between the two computers?

One other thing that might be going on… are you set to the same device profile on both computers when you load the file? If not, try that.

The red text is still text. Not path

Thanks for the input everyone. I will do some additional testing based on the responses here and report what I find.

So it appears to be something to do with the offset. If i take the same script/font and recreate the design, except I do not add the offset, then the design is the same across all environments. If I add the offset, then the misalignment appears in the environment the design was not created in.
On Mac

On Win10

The result is the same whether i group the objects or lock the shapes.
The interesting thing is that if I convert it to a bitmap, the script/font that had the offset still “jumps” when opened in a different OS than it was created.

Mac->Win the offset is a lower Y value and Win->Mac, the offset is a higher Y value.

In that case it’s likely to do something with the font or differences in font handling.

Are you certain the fonts are identical on both sides?

If they are, then as a workaround I’d suggest converting the original text to a path either before or after the offset is applied.
