Device not recognized

I have a 50 watt fiber laser I purchased back in Aug 2022. I am having issues with it staying connected to Lightburn. I have updated drivers, reset and restarted operating systems, restored my computer, including bios resets. All other USB devices have no issue. I have also swapped out USB cords, and am having the same issue. All things are pointing at the laser itself. I can get the laser to connect for just a brief moment, and then I get an error stating… the USB device cannot be recognized.

The reason why your usb device descriptor failed can be multifold. The top reasons include:

Your system’s USB port is defective or suffered mechanical damage.
Malfunctioning USB device connected to the computer.
Corrupted or outdated USB drivers.
Windows is unable to locate the description of the USB device that you are trying to install.

Have you tried using a different PC to connect to your laser?

You may also want to try the Zadig driver swap method here: Galvo Installation - LightBurn Software Documentation

I have tried the Zadig driver swap, and was successful. I was able to see my driver in the device manager, and Lightburn saw in briefly, then disconnected. I received the error in black, and my driver had moved from the Serial Bus devices to an Unknown device.

It sounds like your USB hardware on your PC may be faulty. If at all possible, use a laptop or other device to verify that the PC in question is indeed the issue.

All this happened within the last few days, after never having an issue. Straight out of the box perfect.

I am using the same USB to operate my CO2 laser…zero issues

Well, then it could be your laser. The only way to know for sure is to try using another PC to validate.

I will try that, thank you.
