Difference in measurement

I have a ruida machine. i have just fixed my steps so that i have now got a perfect 100mm x 100 mm square.
When i went to do a clock, face which was 400mm in diameter. the laser is wanting going over the edge by about 8-9 cm too wide.
I. have used the ruler tool, to make sure my measurements are accurate. the laser is just wanting to cut bigger.

Any suggestions please.

Helen

If I have read and understood you correctly, your result (clock) is over 20% larger than it should be, it is a very large deviation
This can only be possible if your steps do not fit, even if you have adjusted them and checked them with a caliper.

But it sounds wild, because with 20% error, your test square must be 120x120mm and such a large measurement error is unlikely.

Could it be an error in your drawing / file?

Firstly when doing a step calculation for accuracy I recommend you use a much larger distance, as big as possible in fact maybe 10% smaller than the bed. It doesn’t have to be a square, just 1 line in each direction.

measuring 1000mm and getting it as accurate as possible will make the whole machine more accurate than 100mm, because even if your 100mm is out by the thickness of the laser line, that is already an error which is multiplied by every 100mm you add, if 1000mm is out by the laser line thats 10X more accurate allready.

and as bernd said 8-9cm??? really? or do you mean 8-9mm…even so this is quite an error. try redoing the steps as I said above and see if your original 100mm square was as good as you thought.

80 - 90 mm the whole way round the clock.
