quite new to laser marking, and was planning for a project to create a few programs to run custom laser marking engravings, was wondering what is the difference between Seacad and Ezcad, and does both have SDK or developer files?
Hi @male217
If you’re using LightBurn, the difference between EZCAD and SeaCAD mostly doesn’t matter.
LightBurn does not use EZCAD or SeaCAD at all — it talks directly to the JCZ controller in the machine.
So whichever one your laser shipped with doesn’t affect how LightBurn works.
In practical terms:
-
LightBurn doesn’t rely on their SDKs
-
You don’t need EZCAD or SeaCAD installed to run LightBurn
-
Any “developer files” for those programs are not used by LightBurn
If your goal is to design jobs for your fiber, LightBurn replaces both EZCAD and SeaCAD.
If your goal is writing custom software, that’s outside what LightBurn is designed for, and you’d need to work directly with JCZ’s tools instead.
