Discoloration on curved edges when cutting acrylic

Hi all,

First time posting here having just bought a 150w machine.
I’ve had, 30W, 40W and 50W machines so this latest is a big upgrade for me.

However, I have been having some issues where the acrylic edges are discouloured after cutting, see pictures attached.
Material is Perspex, 3mm acrylic.
Hailea AC-500 air assist.
A variety of speed and power settings.
I haven’t seen anything like this before so I am wondering if anyone else has seen this and know what the cause is?
I have ran a range of tests and it appears that no matter what power I run at, I can not cut 3mm Perspex acrylic any faster than 15mm/s, otherwise I get this defect on my curved edges only, straight lines don’t pose the same defect.
Can anyone shed some light on what the cause of this might be?
Running at 15mm/s is a bit of a pain considering I can cut straight through the material at 40mm/s, however the edges are discolored

When I see this, as I have on mine … I think mechanical… Something in one of the axes isn’t snug or belt with an incorrect tension…

What kind of air assist are you using…? my experience tells me to use low pressure when cutting acrylic…

Do you have a minimum power setting and is the controller set to use if properly?

Interesting. I know the steps are more pronounced on curved paths, but I never see them visually on my 50w machine with the discoloration too?

I am using a Hailea ACO-500 and I have tried everything down to flame generation in order to prevent the discolouration with no success.

I don’t know much about min/max power settings so when I am changing the power settings, I give the min and max the same value. If there is any valuable reading on this I will check in the forum for some related info.

Minimum/maximum power, along with the ‘start speed’ set in your controller specifies where and how much power is produced based on speed…

I think it relates like this…

When it has to change direction, usually that involves a speed change… this is the compensation… It much more clear on things with square or pointed corners.

Again, I’d double check all the mechanics… I doubt this is a controller setting, if it is I don’t know where to point you.
