Disconnected lasers issue

I have been running an OmTech 1624 in Lightburn for over a year now and this week I am trying to install a OmTech k40+. The 1624 has a Rudia controller and the k40+ has GBRL. I have installed both machines in the software, but when they are both powered on and I try to use one or the other the lasers both show up as “disconnected”.
I am running a Mac mini with 2 USB ports. I have both machines plugged directly into the usb ports on the computer. I purchased new USB cables for both machines and they are both less than 5 feet. I open a new LightBurn window for each machine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both machines. But no matter what I have tried I am unable to get either machine to stay connected. At this point in time I have not even been able to get the k40+ set up because I can’t get LightBurn to stay connected to it long enough to check the mirror alignment.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I AM DOING WRONG? Its been three days Ive been trying to get this machine set up and I am at a loss!

Are you selecting the appropriate serial port associated to each machine in Laser window?

If you don’t open two windows, are you able to control each machine individually?

when I hit the drop down menu and select the other serial port it tells me that it is connecting and then it just tells me that it is busy. SO I tried looking up to see if there was something installed that maybe the computer thinks is connected to a usb hub and I uninstalled all my printers. that didn’t help either.

This may pose its own issues. Try plugging in the lasers directly.

I’d suggest starting from one laser at a time. Get the base case working first.

Then try adding the second laser on its own. Then finally try to run both together.
