I have looked for a solution but can’t find it, and of course there is hundreds of forums and whatever for me to try and fix it myself. I have e mailed and of course I wait for a answer. I have a Ortur LB2 and PH with windows, and although I know nothing about programs and computers I was able to make a few projects, but now I have a disconnected indication in the laser window and 2 days ago I got a busy notice when I tried to frame or home and have been asking for a few days if anyone has a answer. I am still using LB trial version, and a lot of people say how great it is but I am not getting much help from them. I know they have their forums and all but it’s all mind boggling to a old guy with no experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I am going to respond to your statements in reverse order…
I am an old guy (79) and had no experience with lasers when I bought my first one. It took me a year to learn about Lightburn.
How are you asking for help? I am pretty sure this is your first posting on this Forum. Of course, this is THE forum for Lightburn, but you will read a lot of hardware solutions here too.
There are very few telephone hotlines in the laser world. You have to be patient and wait for someone that understands your problem to discover your posting. By chance, this could be an hour or a week.
What is a “PH” and which version of Windows?
Do you still have these issues? “Disconnected” is a USB communications issue and a “Busy” is a windows issue.
USB = Make sure your cable is fully plugged in. If this issue persists try another USB cable, preferably one that is shielded and has a ferrite knot on one end.
BUSY = If the laser is not busy, Windows will sometimes reassign your USB COM port to something else, or even just cancel it. I have found the only real solution is to save the work, shut it all down, and start over.
By the way, there are a lot of members your age using these machines. Age is not an excuse, not wanting to learn is. I promise you this… You will not get bored with this hobby. It is the first one I have had that I did not want to switch to something else within a couple of years.
Be patient, take your time, and ask questions. You are in for a fun ride.
I have a pic here to help explain my problem. As you can see I am attempting to frame my job and I get this busy message with a percent of completion.
I do not see a problem in your image. When you click on Frame, Lightburn sends the code to the controller. The controller has a buffer that can accept the entire short program immediately. However, it does not tell Lightburn it is done (97% indicated) until it has actually completer running the program.
“Busy” is not the same as “disconnected”. One means the laser is busy running code. The other means Lightburn lost the connection to the laser for one of several reasons.
Not all messages are fatal. Only those that stop the laser from running.
