When board is hooked up to laserGRBL the board works fine but when connected to Lightburn it does nothing but says ready. Any ideas?
Check baud rate and DTR signal. Make sure that LaserGRBL is not running or anything else that might be holding on to the port.
Baud Rate 115,000

Note when I do $$ it does nothing.
Thanks for any help[ much appreciated.
So… are you connected then?
Nothing moves laser turns on right away but that’s it
How did you configure the device in LightBurn? Is it configured as a GRBL device?
What firmware are you running on the controller?
in lasergrbl i set it up, and works as it should. IN lightburn machine settings>communications failed.
Can you elaborate, please?
Your previous post indicated communication with the laser was working. Also, being able to turn on the laser indicates connectivity.
What do you mean by “machine settings>communications”?
Are you able to address the two questions from my previous post?
laserGrbl in lightburn .controller is also grbl. when it is first powered up you see this message:
Waiting for connection…
[MSG:X Axis Standard Stepper Step:I2SO(1) Dir:I2SO(2) Disable:I2SO(0) Limits(0.000,380.000)]
[MSG:Y Axis Standard Stepper Step:I2SO(5) Dir:I2SO(6) Disable:I2SO(0) Limits(0.000,370.000)]

[MSG:PWM spindle Output:GPIO(32), Enbl:None, Dir:None, Freq:1000Hz, Res:16bits]
When I do $$ the console looks like this:
Waiting for connection…
[MSG:X Axis Standard Stepper Step:I2SO(1) Dir:I2SO(2) Disable:I2SO(0) Limits(0.000,380.000)]

Under Edit> machine settings is says communications failed.
What is the welcome message you get if you connect through LaserGRBL?
Can you take a screenshot of LaserGRBL connection?
Where did you get the firmware for the controller and what specific firmware is on the board?
You’re missing the full welcome message. Can you scroll up and capture everything from the start of connection forward?
It seems I’m not making myself clear.
The information I’m after is scrolling off the page. Can you scroll up so that all the information is visible?
See the highlighted area of this screenshot:
Also, are you entering $$
in the entry window or is that coming up on its own. The information is not needed at the moment so refrain from doing so if this is something you’re adding.
Are you using the Makerbase DLC32 Firmware?
Do you have any other devices on your network?
Looks like the serial connection is made to your controller which returns a small amount of information… but then communications stall for some reason? Did you try to “Enable DTR Signal”?
Reboot the laser, then try to reconnect to it, if you could provide a screenshot like this that shows your device settings, along with the Console window, and the Laser window, it would be really helpful;
Thanks to your picture I turned on DTR and it seems to be working. Thank you so much
