I’ve read through several posts with regrads to Docking (there’s over 50 hits!).
First, I have trouble with getting a floating window to redock. By widening the right side where all of the other windows are docked PLUS minimizing the size of the Art Library window after opening, I can finally get the Art Library to dock. However, only after using the Shift button on the keyboard and opening LightBurn was I able to accomplish this feat. I held the Art Library over the right pane for over a minute and attempted several times. It simply would not dock.
So eventually, I did get it docked, closed LightBurn, relaunched it and the Art Library opens but it’s no longer docked. It’s resides to the left of the workspace in what someone calls “Docked Alone” state.
I’ve struggled with this in every version I’ve used. Currently on v1.4.00.
Having to reset to default window configuration more times than I can coun’t, slows me down on getting up and running. It’s a crap shoot at best when I start things up to see if where I’ll land. Ha!
Yes, it’s a minor issue, but having seen over 50 threads on the issue make me think it needs some looking into.
Sidenote: I’m trained and certified in Root Cause Analysis, Apparent Cause Analysis and Common Cause Analysis. This issue would fall into a CCA where even though individually the issue is minor, when the issue repeats itself multiple times, it warrants an investigation to determine what’s causing it to rear its head over and over again.
Can you take a full screenshot of LightBurn in the state where you’re not able to dock the window? Also, please indicate which window it is that you’re trying to dock and to which pane you’re trying to dock it. I’ll try to recreate the issue.
I don’t typically use undocked windows but I’ve never experienced an issue with docking when I’ve done so.
Also, what resolution is your screen and are you doing anything interesting like a multi-monitor situation or going through remote desktop or virtualization software?
On a 4K TV with the computer at 1920x1080 resolution. The TV could be considered at the second monitor. No Remote Desktop being used nor virtualization software.
This is the opening screen even after successfully docking the Art Library toolbox.
I believe that’s the default location for Art Library window so not surprised by the location.
I tried to reproduce this. Made the right pane as narrow as it would go but didn’t have a problem getting the docking to behave. Worked the same as widening the pane. One note is that it’s the location of the mouse cursor on the titlebar that’s relevant for docking behavior. You seem to have no issue with docking in other cases so likely not an issue but just check for it.
My display settings are a bit different than yours so not apples-to-apples. I’m on a 2240x1400 display and no second display on W11.
I assume you mean docked here? This is also different than what I see so wonder if that’s a clue. When restarting LightBurn the Art Library window is retained to whatever state and location it was prior to closing.
Not sure what could be going on but perhaps unplug the TV to see if this persists on a single display setup.
It is in fact docked, but on the left side of the workspace. When I said “undocked” I meant not landing as docked in the lower right portion of the application, just next to the Library, etc.
It’s still doing it but what I’ve found is, if I drag it off onto the workspace and make it a floating toolbar, then left click onto the workspace, then go back and grab it on its header and drop it on the right side on top of the others, it will turn light blue underneath and then letting go of it, ti docks there. I say all this, but that’s not always the case.
I did change the resolution of my TV/Monitor to see iif that would clear up the recurring issue, but that didn’t seem to consistently help either.
I’m just dealing with it at the moment as it appears I’m the only one experincing the issue.
it’s akin to having to move the car seat back to where I can actually get in the car after my wife dirves it. She almost never remembers to move it back. Gets old after a while, and even older when it’s pouring down rain!!
