Does 1.5 support full autofocus of Gweike Cloud Pro and Omtech Polar and what are the settings?

Hi

The following is mentioned as part of the 1.5 update: * Support for automatic Z axis focus setting on OMTech Polar machines (enable in Edit > Device Settings)

Please could someone confirm if this means that the full autofocus of 55W Gweike Cloud Pro can now be used and that we no longer have to input material thickness or do we still have to input material thickness as per the 1.4.04 update for 50W machines?

Possibly. If the machine behaves the same way as the OmTech polar then the same approach should work. Also, at least for the Polar there is really nothing I would consider autofocus. As-in nothing dynamically determines distance from material and stops based on that. I would consider this more automated focus adjustment based on material height. You directly enter material height and the machine will change focus to accommodate that height at the start of thejob. Use Enable Z-axis, Omtech Pol…

Thanks for the reply. I had read that but wasn’t sure it answered the question fully as you didn’t seem aware of the new full autofocus with the 55W Gweike Cloud Pro. The new update in 1.5 seems to suggest something above and beyond the update in 1.4.04 whereby users no longer had to use the 17mm - material thickness calculation, therefore I wonder whether the latest OmTech Polar also has the new autofocus function.

OmTech Polar also has the new autofocus function.

OmTech Polar does not have any autofocus mechanism. The only change to accommodation for focus in the new release that I’m aware of is for Polar style focusing.

From what you described about the movement of the head for Cloud Pro II it appears to be a probe based solution. If so, the previously existing auto-focus mechanism likely would have worked.

Do you have this machine to test with?
