Does Millmage support Tiling?

Does Millmage support Tiling, which is the process of setting up your workpiece to be able to carve something larger than the cutting area on your CNC? I currently use Carbide Create Pro which has this feature and is called Toolpath Tiling.

Tiling is planned, and you can do it with MillMage but it’s a manual operation to edit and adjust the files to suit

Thanks Colin. Is there any video showing how to manually do it? Do I just need to create 2, 3 or 4, etc. separate projects to accomplish this on one workpiece?

Not at this time, no - we’re still very early days for millmage.

You would break each part of the larger design into the more manageable chunks, and program them individually.

It would be tricky if it had any outer or inner profile cuts, since we don’t have the ability to offset an open vector yet. Manually cutting the design and leaving open shapes wouldn’t let you profile outside / inside anymore.

We will eventually support this, but it’s still in planning at the moment.

I just finished my first 2’ x 4’ sign using Millmage. It does have an outer perimeter cove groove. I was able to accomplish it by creating two offsets then diving them a little larger than half way and closing them with a line. Mirror and flip it so it overlapped slightly. Then did a pocket opeartion to create one half on the groove.

Without absolute coordinates and Print and Cut, it was a challenge to get eveything lined back up for cutting the second half of the sign once the material was moved. But I did it.

My machine has a 750mm x 750mm workspace. Tiling or Print and Cut would make doing larger jobs a lot simpler.

It’s something we’re likely to do down the line - but first we’re going to focus on the core features. I will say that we’ve really been picking up steam and producing new features at a pace never seen before!
