Dotted cut line problem

Hello,

I have a problem with my laser cutter where the cut lines are sometimes dotted on the bottom side;

Everything is tight and rigid, belts are tight and the gantry is square.
I have no idea what the culprit could be. does anyone have any idea?

Check if you have perforation Mode enabled and disable it.

I’m going to say normal variation of the plywood. Glue packets, patches, and other hard spots prevent the normal power from penetrating. Especially if you normally run “just enough” for power and speed.

Nope. In my experience this is a speed thing. Running too fast for the current material, or power setting. If you slow things down a bit, this will improve dramatically. There is an interesting video (by Russ Sadler) that shows exactly this… I’ll try to find it.

Found it. He calls it “Beam Drag” and even if you don’t agree with me… it’s worth a quick view. I’ll drop you in the video right where he begins to reveal it (some of his videos can be a bit… well… lengthy).
