Drawings from AutoCad arrive in Lightburn much larger than the original

Drawings from Autocad are arriving in Lightburn much larger than they should be. I can’t measure exactky how much but maybe 10x. Old version of AutoCad (2007) but it works fine taking dxfs to my other cnc machines. Laser is a Neje Max 40 E80. Latest Lightburn.
Is there someway to select what autocad units mean in Lightburn?

Cheers

Chris

I use Lightburn for all drawings, so I am guessing here. Are you using the same units in both packages, like Inches in both, or mm in both?

Mike, thanks for replying.

In Autocad I have never had to specify the meaning of the units. In the CAD program I use for my cnc router I am asked when initially setting up the program to assign a meaning to the units, and I use mm. I have Lightburn set to mm/min.

My CO2 laser reads the drawings as their proper size.

Since you say it works with your C02, go to the Import/Export tab in settings and see how you have it set for the C02, then make the necessary change in the same place for your diode.

If you’re importing DXF files, then:

In some cases, auto-selecting the units doesn’t work: we’ve seen cases where it picked “microns” instead of “inches”, with hilarity ensuing. Explicitly setting the appropriate unit for a specific file will help.

Are your AutoCAD drawings designed in mm or inches?

If your AutoCAD file is designed in mm, then

If your AutoCAD file is designed in inches, then

I stopped using AutoCAD at R13, but I don’t remember this ability.

And yeah, what they said. Units of Measure matter.

Ednisley,

thanks, that cracked it. I had selected mm but not deselected autoselect.

Thanks to everyone who responded, I learned a little from each answer…
