Dropping Z per pass on Commarker B6

I’m considering ComMarker B6 60W MOPA and wondering whether the laser can auto lower Z position of the galvo head after every pass.

Watched many YouTube videos and extensively searched google annd these forums and cannot find the answer.

The objective is to make 2.5D engravings while keeping the laser in focus after every pass.

At this current time, no; There have been several threads regarding this and similar topics, and several feature suggestions out there. As far as I recall, nothing from the devs commuting to implementing.

Can anyone think of a reason this solution wouldn’t work:

Using a closed loop stepper, raising or elevating the workpiece X mm per hour, where X is a guesstimate based on history of the material and laser settings.

Edit: and thanks for answering the original question!

certainly could; depending on how exactly your axis integrated could cause an issue, if it’s driven directly by the usb driver you may not be able to drive it and the laser at the same time. if you have independent control over the axis you can control it however you want.
