HI,
I have a DXF file with the usual multiple layers, I want the usual lines AND the dimension layer in my laser file. If I import DXF, the dimension layer isn’t present - and its coloured differently in the exported DXF. Importing into Corel 25 and I can see the layer importing there fine.
What am I not doing ?
Thanks
Steve
Since it opens fine in Corel just save it as a .ai or .pdf file. Then import either into LB
Perhaps the Ignore Text Objects setting is enabled, which apparently discards things like dimensions:
If you are using a CAD program to create the DXF file, you have to “explode” the dimensions. LB can import text and lines, but not dimensions. When you explode the dimensions, the arrowheads become solids. LB also ignores them. If you want them, then sketch polyline arrow shapes over the existing solid arrows.
Regarding colors, LB has a color map you need to follow. LB does not import DXF layer information. It works off of colors. Do a search on Lightburn RGB colors and you should be able to find the color map.
In order to avoid the very problem you mention I set up a color file for my CAD program (DesignCad 3D Max). There is an option that when drawing objects and trying to change the color it allows loading a color file, hopefully you have the same ability. Having that file with colors that match LightBurn needs exactly simplifies the process because I can choose any of the colors. Note that each color has a specific RGB set of 3 numbers. I have a handy chart stored on my desktop that lets me reuse about 10 of them with LightBurn laser settings in place, the rest get changed once I load the .dxf into LightBurn.
Hope my tip helps,

That’s very interesting. I will have to try it
