Easiest Laser to Use for Rotary

I have owned two lasers in my life. The first one was an Epilog Laser(sold it about 10-12 years ago when I sold my business), and now an OM Tech Laser. I am still working on learning the OM Tech Laser rotary setup, but truthfully it seems like a massive pain over what I remembered from my Epilog.

I guess my question is, is there an easier to use laser system for rotary devices? I am contemplating keeping my OM Tech for larger runs of patches I do as well as larger wood cuts, but was thinking I can get a smaller machine solely for rotary engravings.

What is the easiest laser you have used when it comes to setup on the rotary?

Maybe I dont remember using the Epilog right, but I dont remember having to change my laser settings the same I do with the OM Tech. Maybe I am not even doing the OM Tech Laser one right, but it seems silly to me to have to revert to backup settings file each time after using the rotary. I guess I am more looking for a simplistic approach to it.

Like I said, I am still learning the OM Tech system/rotary, so please dont kill me if there is something really easy I am missing!

What objects do you plan on lasering?

LightBurn supports two kinds of attachments: rollers and chucks. Chuck rotaries have adjustable jaws that grab and hold objects, while Roller rotaries have revolving rollers or wheels that objects are placed on top of.

Are you following instructions provided by omtech? If so, please share a link.

Which axis does your laser use for rotary output?

Here is our rotary documentation specific to your controller type:

What is the easiest laser you have used when it comes to setup on the rotary?

You can see how gcode controllers compare here, a dedicated rotary axis may be easier:

Im using a 4 wheel rotary device on a 55w OM Tech Laser. OM Tech does not provide the best instructions. I guess my question is more towards the laser/software combination itself.

Is there an easier machine to setup up a rotary with? For example, maybe OM Tech is a lot more complicated than Glow Forge. Is there something that is more simplistic/user friendly?

What is your question? At what point are you have difficulties?

Any software that can do more, will have more options. That’s the way it works.

I just built a dedicated rotary laser from spare parts. Those pictures are quite old, it changed a bit since then, I will get some more recent pictures once my new workshop is ready.
