I hadn’t noticed that detail. I learned much more in the absence of smoke, as @MikeyH mentioned.
As long as you’re aware that it’s a point prone to creating bumps in the movement later, it’s fine.
I like to use the appropriate material, but if there’s a viable alternative available, that’s what I use.
