Since update I am unable to edit or add nodes?? has anyone else experienced this or am I doing something wrong? Any advice appreciated
Make sure the object is ungrouped.

The other thing to check, are these shapes LightBurn ‘Primitives’ (Rectangle Tool, Text Tool, Ellipse Tool)? If so, you will need to convert these to paths first, to allow node editing. Select shape and right-click to find option to Convert to Paths.
