Edit plain text

Hello!

I have a simple beginner question.

I just downloaded the trial version, I would mainly use the program to make rubber stamps.
Rubber stamps usually have 4-6 lines of text below each other, the first line of which is usually a slightly larger font size.

How can I set it so that, for example, for 4 lines of text, the first line is a larger font size and is bold?

Merging the first line and the 3rd line as separate texts is quite cumbersome, and it is difficult to align them exactly.

So far I have worked with CorelDRAW, in which you can format the text in the same way as in an office “Word” program.

Thanks for the help!

Chris

Lightburn is not a word processor, so it lacks some features. Playing with separate text units is quick and easy once you get used to it.

To align 2 different texts, use the Align selected objects buttons (top row) for vertical and horizontal positioning.

You can also double-click the text to get a properties window for making changes. NOTE: Once you convert text to a path, editing no longer works.

You can format your text as you want in corel draw and save it as an svg file, which you then import into Lightburn. As Mike said above, you will lose the ability to edit the text. Lightburn only has basic text editing features.

You might want to look into using the variable text feature.
We mostly use if for templates, where each ‘item’ is a different piece of wood we are burning.
Are you thinking of burning the letters of a rubber stamp with a laser?
I would be concerned with the fumes, and flammability of the rubber.

Happy New Year,

I was, too, but it turns out “rubber stamp” rubber isn’t the same as “rubber tire” rubber. Surpisingly, the stuff cuts cleanly and doesn’t smell like a tire fire.

I’ve been using leftovers from an earlier project as washers in various places:

As with all laser-cut material, though, it needs good ventilation and you never, ever leave a running laser unattended.

Interesting! I can think of several places this would work.

I used to make carburetor gaskets for my Atomic 4 engine with an Xacto knife. I wish I had my laser back then.

Thanks for the answers!
It’s really not too complicated to merge 2 different texts, but it would be easier to just format the text
Saving and importing from Corel also works great.

What exactly is ‘rubber stamp rubber’, and where can I buy some?
TIA

Your google not working?

There are likely specialized shops with material for specific purposes, but:

I’m certain some formulations burn like a tire fire. So far, so good.

This is probably one of the most popular sources for Rubber Stamp making supplies:

Nice. Thanks. Didn’t want to go down the wrong rabbit hole.
I was thinking that ‘Rubber Stamp Rubber’ wasn’t necessarily what the product he was using is actually called.
I liked the idea of being able to cut soft seals for one of my projects.
