Engrave along a path

Is there a way to laser (fill) along a path? I have applied my text to path on it’s own layer and want to engrave it along the path as well. Right now it is going side-to-side and having a lot of travel time. I have attached a pic for further explanation. TIA

Under the layer tab, select ADVANCED tab, select FLOOD FILL.
