I have problems engraving polished sterling silver.
I have a MOPA 30W fiber laser.
Matt sterling silver works.
Mirror polished stainless steel works.
Sterling silver + polished does not work.
Does anyone know what settings I need to make in Lightburn?
I have tried everything from power, frequency, laser speed and pulse width.

Hello, which monport laser is yours?
From the product description page, there is a manual that includes instructions for different materials (page 33) AND how to set your laser up in LightBurn(page 22).
Example: Laser Marking Machine | Monport 50W Fiber Laser — Monportlaser
The matrix they refer to is the material test tool.
First, make sure your laser is set up according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Don’t know if this helps as I’ve never done silver…
To do cleanup, I pick a higher frequency (more pulses/mm), low q-pulse (fast pulse) and lower power. This removes less material in smaller pieces.
Since you gave us no idea of how you’re trying to do this, I can’t make much more of a suggestion.

Thank you very much. I’ll read through it again and see if there’s anything in there that I haven’t tested yet.
I have this laser: Bester 30-W-MOPA-Faserlasergravierer mit Autofokus – Monport DE
