anyone have any suggestions as to engrave and then cut acrylic using a defocussed layer for the image and then the optimum focus for the cut.
My laser is an OMTECH polar co2 and there does not seem to be a way to set focus for each layer as in a auto focus diode laser.
I can get the required result by engraving the image part, then reset to focus to the correct depth for the cut layer but this means two operations.
I include a file for explaination.
The image is a bird defocussed to smooth out the engraved lines. (100 mm/sec @ 22% power and 1 pass)
The cut layer (red) is focussed 1 mm into the acrylic and is 6 mm/sec @ 70% power and 1 pass
