Engraving 50 lines on a tumbler with rotary

I’m back. Don’t worry, lots of stuff. Please confirm your rotary is working, go back to rotary screen, enable rotary, and hit test.

Rotary should rotate exactly 360 degrees.
EDIT: Your setup shows rotary in the X direction, is this correct ?
Went down to the shop. Ran the same exercise you are looking for. Maybe spun it backwards.

I’ll post a video in a sec

Rotary settings. Rotary I’m using is 38400 Microsteps per revolution

50 increments

10 increments, variable text and extension tails, start 0, advance 5 every 36 degrees

No RUSH Al,
So I am at 6400 steps/rot, the max I can go is 25600
When I click test the rotary turns clockwise 1 turn, stops and then turns on the other direction ans returns to zero.
AL YOU’RE AMAZING
That works excepted for the numbers.
dd is engraved? If I change “dd” by “0”, the 0 is engraved

What did I forget?
Thanks so much
Patrice

So it’s not understanding you want variable text. I select serial number. Highlight the dd and click that.

If 6400 rotates the chuck 360 degrees, that is the correct setting. You would have to change dip switches inside the laser on the microstep driver if you want something different. 6400 is fine.

Al, you are really amazing.
Everything works perfectly.
In FRANCE a proverb says this:
It is better to have one who knows than 100 who seek.
6400 rotates the chuck 360 deg, I’ve made a test with 25600, the chuck was spinning maybe 50 turns one way then in the other direction.
I returned to 6400.
If I want it engraves I must disable in this window “enable rotary”.

I had also to change the axis from x to y

Then I adjust the angles on every layer for engraving and I click on “start”
I’ll try next time to engrave the 3 layers at the same time.

It works perfectly.
Thank you so much

Now I only have to adjust the engraving parameters.
When one knows, it’s so easy.
I wish you a good day.
Best regards
Patrice
