I am trying to trace a detailed image to engrave. It is a fire department emblem, and VERY DETAILED. Any hints I getting the trace feature to actually trace the image accurately?
This is an example of the image (if you can see it). When I trace it cuts off the eagle head on the center medallion and just looks like a “Blob”. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

What are you engraving on?
A light or dark material? (What will happen with the dark background?)
What size is the final output?
Do you intend to reproduce/engrave every element of the graphic?
These intentionally low res black and white versions will help you to visualise the graphic in a different way that may help you to see problematic areas as well as potential solutions for them.
For example, the graphic on the left in the above example might be what you are aiming towards but it may work better if the eagle is also dark e.g.
Also - there is a spelling mistake… 
I know I didn’t specifically address your question about tracing, but without knowing exactly what you want the laser to achieve - it’s very difficult to suggest the best tracing strategy (if tracing is needed).
Certain areas can be fine tuned and added to the resulting image…
What most people don’t realize, is the trace option can be done multiple times targeting specific areas.
