I have a Ortur 20W laser Master 2
I am engraving tempered glass screen protectors but it is not coming out how I would like it.
I am using masking tape to protect the glue on the screen protector but I feel like it is engraving to deep into the glass. I have tried a bunch of setting but none seem to work.
It turns out either to flakey or just cracks. If anyone has tried engraving screen protectors or even glass with a 20 watt laser, what power, speed and dpi did you use?
I think you’re at a disadvantage based on the wavelength of a diode laser as the material is effectively transparent to the laser. The laser is most likely only affecting the masking tape (and causing heat gain, reflection, warping, etc on the screen protector).
I am guessing here, so let’s see what anyone else may have to say.
Here is a video providing an example of a technique to engrave on glass / acrylic with a diode laser:
The problem I see with using an anodized aluminum is the adhesive on the back of the screen protector burning. The masking tape is preventing it from going through and burning the adhesive back.
This video has a product but I don’t know if it is on the top or bottom of the glass.
