Doesn’t seem like you’re focused … drop it down a little and see what that does… also, what’s your low power setting at? 40w is plenty, maybe double my original power and run same speed … do an offset fill?
Just looked up your laser. Seems it’s a 5.5W diode. Not sure what they mean by 40W machine “output”, I’d guess they mean total power consumption but I could be wrong.
I drop down my laser and put almost the same speed and power as your file and it starts to look really good. I need to do more test to be sure but its the best i did so far. Thank you so so much!!!
Laurie - you could probably benefit from doing a Ramp Test to find your focus point. There are some great explanations and videos out there that do a much better of explaining/showing than I can. I did a ramp test for my XTool and found the sweet spot was a little different from the drop-down focus device, so I cut a piece of wood to that height for repeatability.
One thing I’m noticing is your laser is configured with the wrong device type. It’s configured as GRBL-M3. It should almost certainly be GRBL.
- Push “Devices” button in Laser window.
- Click on name of your laser
- Push Edit button
- Change device type to ‘GRBL’
- Push next through wizard until complete
This should provide for better power control.
