Engraving initial with name

can anyone walk me through how to make this. I know how to do the name over the initial, but don’t know how to make the line over and under the name

1: download a font made for that. Dafont comes to mind.
2: type the letter in, draw a rectangle and subtract from the letter and draw 2 lines.

Type your letter first.
Draw rectangle.
Select both.
Hit that button.

Weld M together with square, ungroup, make editable and delete the two side lines.

Only problem with that method is you can’t fill the letter without a few more steps.
But it is another way of doing it.

Not quite correct, you just drop step 5

True, but then the rectangle is also filled.

I think the best way would be…
type the letter.
create the rectangle to the size you want.
select both and centre horizontal and vertical.
copy the rectangle and paste off to the side.
Do the Boolean subtract.
select the letter and pasted rectangle and centre horizontal and vertical again.
Select the rectangle and break apart.
delete the 2 ends of the rectangle.

There is always different ways to do things.
