Engraving Issues/Material Test

Hi, I’m new to the laser world. I recently updated to the new Lightburn and I have a Aeon Mira 9 100 watt I’ve been trying to do the Engraving Material Test that Lighburn has and I’m having issues with it. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong and I’m getting so defeated, if anyone can help me I’d appreciate it so much. Thank you

You have a mechanical issue - where there is slip in the belts or the drives - you are dumping a LOT of power into the media.

Find the slop or the slip
Turn down the power
Make sure your media is not being moved by the cables or the drag chains

Thank you for your response but how can I check to see the slip/slop? I’m unsure what that means, sorry. When I place the MDF in the laser bed I do not see it moving.

Make sure the Ruida controller PWM Rising Edge Valid setting is correct for both X and Y axes:

In nearly all machine, the correct setting is False. If the X and Y axes are set differently, that’s a clue: make them both False.

We’ve seen this misconfiguration on shiny new machines, which is … disturbing.
