Engraving set to fill, but can I change to offset fill during the job?

I’ve got a job engraving big hollow spaces which will take about 6 hours because of the laser travelling so far. I now have changed to offset fill during a pause which will bring the time down to 1 1/2 hours. how do I get it to accept the new pro ess without ruining the job?

You can’t change this in the middle of a job. How the fill is created and sent to the machine is already done.

Use to learn the tools Lightburn supplies, such as preview. Offset fill has specific uses and is generally not the best choice.

Thanks Jack. I thought as much; I guess I’ll just have to be patient and wait for the job to finish.

I do have a lot of vacant space in the job, hence the long time to complete, and I have used offset fill before for these jobs but forgot to check it on previews before I started. Thanks once again for your prompt reply - Steve (New Zealand)

Under the ADVANCED tab in the layer properties, you can select FLOOD FILL - for frame type shaper it will save you a lot of time as the laser does not cross back and forth over the empty areas.

+1 to PREVIEW - I use that several times for each job, before I send it to print.

Another recommendation I give is to use scrap cardboard as a test medium rather than expensive wood. It takes less power, but recycled Amazon boxes, or your Kiwi equivalent, are free and plentiful around my house

Thanks James. I think flood fill will save even more time - and movement - and I’ll try to use it in the future. I’m quite new to laser engraving/lcutting, I’m on my second AtomStack 10W laser, having burned out the first one and couldn’t get parts either under warranty (Temu said WOT’s that?) or from AtomStack.com.

Still learning and loving it, but I’m filling the house up with projects which I need to sell or give away.

Cheers - Steve

I found it was much too much work to sell these, so I give them away.

I don’t think I wasted as much materials doing the old school photography compared to using a laser.

I’d love to pay for these, but I just don’t have to go to sell them.
