I want to engrave into powder coated steel through masking tape so that I can leave the masking tape in place and paint the engraved areas. Anyone have any settings that work for this process using a Galvo laser. Any help would be appreciated.
I commonly use masking take for the rotary to assure it’s going to do what I want it to do…
Regular masking tape doesn’t seem to work well on my fiber, but black masking tape works pretty well.
I don’t go through the tape, which is a bit different that you wish to do…
I always use the project notes to keep track of things…
Maybe you can combine or use the anodized engrave setting to get through the tape…?
Good luck
Most brand name painters tape works well enough… Just be sure to use very light coats of paint. The solvents in spray paint can dissolve the glue on the tape. Be content with extra light coats and you’ll be fine.
