I have a Omtech 50 W I am trying to engrave tumblers. My tumblers are rotating counterclockwise approximately 6 inches before they start engraving. How do I fix this?
Make a line on the Tool layer. Place that line in the middle of your graphic.
Frame that tool layer only, to center the cup under the laser. Rotate by hand when the rotary is not moving, move the cup until the center of your target area is lined up with the frame line.
Easy once you know how to do it.
Thank you I will try this I also have one more question when starting up machine I have been pressing the ESC button so the tumbler don’t spin am I doing the right thing I am getting a out of bounds, warning a lot
You machine is not familiar to me.
On my rotary, I have to manually trip the limit button on the y axis. I wait until the X axis has set its zero, then I use my finger to trigger the y axis on my frame (there is not one on the rotary)
When I start up my machine is trying home so the tumbler is spinning so by pressing ESC button it stop everything. The only way I can do anything is when I use absolute coordinates!
AFAIK, your machine will have limit switches that trigger when the gantry and laser head reach 0,0.
Can you trigger those limit switches by hand?
You don’t mention but if you are using a Chuck or Rotary but here’s how i do Mugs on my Chuck. This is a word file so just remove the .txt at the end of the file name
HOW TO CUT MUGS WITH YOUR ROTARY CHUCK.txt (405.4 KB)
This writeup implies you are unplugging and plugging stepper motor cables with the power on. It is recommended you never do this.
