Engraving with a 1kw fiber laser

I’ve got a 30w fiber laser which works great, but I’ve also got 2 x 1kw fiber laser sources - was wondering if the galvo would cope and if I could dial the power down enough to be useful for engraving, rather than just cutting.

The kW sources are faulty, but I’m working on fixing them, so if it’s possible I would probably just build a new galvo system. Or just build a cutter as was the original plan.

Does anyone have experience with high power galvo systems?

I have a Raycus 1 kW source. iirc, the manual states that it’s power range is from 1%-100%. May be different for your specific source. I picked up a ScanLab hurryScan 25 from ebay, which is rated up to 1500W air cooled. Also convenient as it came with the appropriate QBH adapter. I don’t think the galvo from a 30W would last more than a few seconds with a kW CW laser!
Also picked up a BJJCZ 4 card to run the laser/galvo combo. Got some wiring to do in the workshop next week, but will let you know how it goes!

Awesome… I was thinking about building a new laser - possibly with a 3d head, although that’s not compatible with lightburn - it would be great if lightburn could control the z axis like the Chinese boards can. I wouldn’t think it would be too hard to do - I’d guess calibration would be the biggest issue.
