Need some help! Relatively new to laser engraving. I have a Longer Ray5 10W GRBL laser. It was running perfect. I installed limiter switch upgrade along with firmware update and now I receive this error:
ALARM:2
G-code motion target exceeds machine travel. Machine position safely retained. Alarm may be unlocked
I can manually control the machine via Lightburn. I can make it run a job from the laser via SD card. The machine home correctly and stops when physically triggering the limit switches. But, when I run a job from Lightburn, it throws an error.
One more detail… this works as expected using Laser GRBL.
I have also an Longer Ray 5 20w. I am trying to cut a 3d Puzzle and i got every time on differnt parts of the Project the Errormassage on the Displey of my Longer Maschine:
" ERROR Movement protection triggered. The machine has halted. Please restart your machine.
Gcode Shows:
SimpleLaser 1.1h [‘$’ for help]
[MSG:‘$H’|‘$X’ to unlock]
[MSG:Caution: Unlocked]
ok”
There is no Movement, the Maschine stands stable in place. No tilt or anything.??? Could be the Same Error?
Don’t think so. I have had that error related to actually movement – machine bumped while in a job. This is related to my new limiter switches. I can get it to run by disabling limit checks ($20=0 and $21=09) but that doesn’t take advantage of the limiter switch upgrade.
Adding switches reduces your available work area. How much depends on your switch installation, but it can easily be 5-10mm. Not getting the alarm with limit checking turned off means you are in the very edge if being okay.
Try these GRBL settings:
$20=1
$21=1
$130=380
$131=380
Let us know if this does not clear up your Alarm 2 message.
