Hello, please let me explain that I am brand new to using this type of software and laser cutter at all. I have read some other comments about this error but I was so lost when someone gave an answer. I have a Sculpfun s30 Pro 20w. I have not been able to use it yet because I keep getting an error. When I hit the home button the laser goes to the lower left corner, but is make a loud noise and hits the edge over, like it is trying to go farther but can’t. I have my working space set up as 400 for both width and height. When the error comes up it has as this code with $'s. I have no idea what any of that means or how to change it if I needed to.
Here is the what the complete Error says

Any help would be so appreciated, but please remember you have to act like you are explaining it to a 10 year old. haha
Start by checking using the console(right hand side of display there are some tabs one marked move) that x and y are working in the direction you want. Then check if when it is moving that it stops when operating the limit. Obviously make sure the laser cannot fire or your hand get trapped when doing this.
First, the workspace of the Pro Max is 370 x 363 (you lose a lot of space due to the size of the laser head). The default firmware parameters are wrong. This is not contributing to your problem here, but you should fix that as well.
Move the head manually to the front-left corner and check if the switches get activated, before the head hits the frame. Be aware that there are multiple holes in the frame for the y-axis switch. You need to select the farthest one for the Pro Max.
Hello Gbuk, Thanks for replying. I appreciate how you’re making it simple. So when I went to the move window, and the laser was moving in the direction that I was choosing. Then when I hit the home button it went to the left bottom corner but again it did the bumping noise. The weird thing is that where the X and Y say they are when they are in the left corner. Here is a picture of it. Again thank you for your help
Hello Melvin. Thank you for replying. I am not exactly sure what you mean when you ask “if the switches get activate” Sorry for the not understanding. Also when you say the Y-axis switch should be in the farthest hole, do you mean, farthest from the center of the laser, or farthest from me? Sorry for the confusion. Thank you for helping.
If you go to edit, device settings, basic settings. You can set the origin position. Lightburn is very good but it isn’t too easy for initial setup, some defaults are a bit weird.
I meant you should check if the switches are touched by the frame at all. So just inspect if you move the laser manually to the front-left corner, if you can see/hear the click when the mechanical parts press the switch.
Your position information is irrelevant at this moment because the homing did not succeed. Once this works, the position is reset to 0,0 after homing. Before, positions are arbitrary and don’t need to be taken care of.
Actually, this has nothing to do with the homing problem. This won’t help in this case.
