I can see the laser through the underside of the coaster.

This indicates the marble is somewhat transparent to visible light.

Try using the NTM method like they use on bath tiles. You will see this is a very popular subject. This thread alone has 416 postings…

New tile engraving method

I have over the last few months been trying the Norton Tile engraving method and many others that I have seen on YouTube. To date I have not been able to get very good results. So not being one to give up I started experimenting and after many attempts have finally got to doing it this way. It’s also a very cheap method and totally safe. First I mix 100ml of PVA wood glue to 300ml of water. Add 3 heaped teaspoons of titanium dioxide and mix well. I then transfer this solution to a spray bottle.…

Let us know how it comes out. For stuff I cannot directly engrave, I use acrylic paint or the stunningly expensive Cermark spray.
