Ok, I installed my Ruida controller awhile back, I took apart a perfectly good laser to install the Ruida controller so that I could install Lightburn. It is so worth it. This software is so amazing.
I have the Ruida 6442 controller.
Everything is working except my limit switches. Here is where I am at.
I have a limit in the upper right corner. I also have a limit switch on the y-axis(left) side. I have ohmed out both switches, and they seem to work correctly, Here is how it currently is hooked up. On connector CN4, I have two grounds going to pin 1(GND). Then I have the orange wire from the switch in the upper right corner connected to pin2 (Lmt Y-). The White wire from the limit switch on the left side is connected to pin 4(Lmt X-).
I put the head in the middle of the table and hit go home. It headed straight for the upper right corner. I let it continue. When it continued and hit the limit switch then started to lose steps, I hit the E-stop.
Are the limit switches enabled in lightburn (edite > machinesettings > x-axis settings > limit trigger)?
You can check the function of the switches on the ruida (z/u > diagnoses)
Henk, Thanks for this advice! Over the last year or two I have posted this question several times, This is the first time I have heard of these machine settings. In both X and Y my limit settings were False.I switched them to True.
I did not bother to do anything with Z or U limit switches. What do you mean by… You can check the function of the switches on the ruida (z/u > diagnoses) Is this the CSD panel for the Rudia?
Thanks a bunch for all the help. Especially if this works…

Henk, I did like I said and setup the limit switches in LightBurn. so then like you said I went to Z/U and then diagnosis. When I pushed the limit in the top right corner the Y limit lite up. then when i pushed the limit on the left the X limit lite up. I the switched wires so the top right limit was X axis and then left limit was Y axis. I was so excited. I then told my machine to go home. Yep, it hit the top right corner and started missing steps. I’m sure the limit are still turned on in LB, but I am going out to make sure.
I await everyones thoughts.

Thanks for the article OZ. I think you sent me this before when I was trying to get the limit switches working. This article seems to be more Homing and travel direction.
I seem to have gotten further this time. I went to the machine settings, and under the X and Y axis, I set the limit switch to true. Then in the Z/U menu, then in Diagnose, I close the switches, and it showed I closed the X and Y limit switch. That was a good sign, but when I hit the go home button, the laser head headed for the top right corner. It hit the limit switch and tried to keep ongoing. I quickly hit the Estop.
