Extreme Homing Issue with Longer Ray5 on USB

Brand new Longer Ray 5 and admittedly, I’m a newbie to all of this. I can run off the micro sd card fine, but when I plug in the USB cable, the display shows “hard limit” and then it tries to home (when the laser is already at 0,0" and it ends up running the X axis back to -440…and causes a terrible grinding because it’s at the limit.

How can I fix this?

Does this laser have limit switches? If not, you’ll need to turn off ‘Auto-home on startup’ in your Device Settings, or LightBurn will send a homing command as soon as it connects. You’ll need to manually home your laser instead.

If it does have limit switches, they aren’t wired securely/properly (specifically the X switch). Double check on the wiring, and try homing again.

I had already turned off auto-home and the issue persisted, but then I rebooted both the laser and the laptop and it seems to be working now. Thanks for your help!

had the same issue with the same laser, lol remember origin is not home for everything. I like to set a new origin every time I start something even if it is just a slight bit off of the home

I learned that the hard way! LOL

Good info about setting a new origin for every run. I’m gonna start doing that.
