EZCAD3 any updates?

I have been very, very, patiently waiting to hear news on a driver to run EZCAD3 version from LB. I am so desperate that I am considering downgrade the hardware unless you at least can tell me my wait is no to be very longer. I recently change computers in my shop, and I can’t add them due limitation on the USB memory stick controller, it cost $500 to change the USB, when it cost $350 to downgrade the laser. I rather pay you that money for a way much, much, better software.

if you need a test volunteer, I am more than ready to help.

Do you have any more details on your laser and specific controller board?

I am in the same boat for over a year now. First of all, EzCad3 isn’t really that bad. Once you understand the workflow it can get the job done. While it’s not Lightburn, it is miles better than EZCad2.

With that said, I also would prefer to use Lightburn for everything. I find it hilarious that the only 2.5D card available to the hobby market is so incredibly proprietary. The trick is to find another board that is not locked down, and is available. Or one would have to implement something more generic.

There are XY2-100 & XY3-100 protocol librarys for Arduino / ESP32. This, likely, would be a great start. I’m unclear on what the 3rd axis is intended for in this protocol. I’d have to deep dive that, but with regards to just the motion XY2-100 and XY3-100 is published. I wish I had the time to mess with this, but I haven’t the time, right now, to even start. It’s a bit of a rabbit hole.

Not being available isn’t Lightburn’s fault. JCZ has made it exceedingly difficult to communicate to their EzCad3 controllers.

I understand it is not LB problem, it is mine, and a short patience to work on EZCAD3, but $500 just to unlock their software so I can be installed in a new computer it is not a good way to keep your customers. I contact my fiber laser provider and there is a video to downgrade the laser so LB can run with it. I know LB has been working to decipher EZcad3 the question is when they will be achieving this.

Laser Everything has a video on swapping the control board out from an EZCad3 → EZCad2 board.

Good luck.
