"EZCad3" Support

I keep seeing new “EZCAD3” support.

I need a clarification, because EZCAD3 is a competing software product. They’re mutually exclusive.

The original galvo solution was a BJJCZ galvo drive controller.

The newer solution is the DLC2 galvo drive controller with a different protocol. EZCAD2 does not have this protocol, but EZCAD3 does.

So, does “EZCAD3” capabilities just mean DLC2?

What advantages would there be to switching to DLC2? Is it better able to raster out grayscale?

EZCad3 supports DLC2 devices, and EZCad2 supports LMCV4 devices.

When we say “EZCad3 support”, most people understand that to mean supporting the controllers handled by EZCad3 software. If we said “DLC2 controllers” most people wouldn’t have a clue what we were talking about.

So yes, we mean we have added support for DLC2 controllers. We don’t know enough about the differences in the hardware processing to be able to tell you if it handles grayscale better or not.

If you currently have an LMCV4 card in your machine, I wouldn’t suggest switching as we’re barely at feature parity with that hardware at this point. The addition of support for DLC2 cards isn’t to suggest users who have LMCV4 cards should upgrade, it’s to support users with DLC2 cards so they don’t have to downgrade to use LightBurn.
