Running on a Boss Laser LS 2440. The outline is a 7.75 x 7.75 inches square, with an offset of 1/8 of an inch to create the outline. I used grid array to double the project. it is in fill mode with flood fill enable.
Any ideas? :).
OK Ill give that a try again. last time I tried it , I was burning through the piece. But I may have had the power setting wrong. Thanks for your Help!!!
Yeah, that job is gonna be a time-eater the way it’s set up right now. Flood fill can be great, but on something that big—especially with a square outline like that—it usually ends up wasting more time than it saves. The laser just zips around doing a bunch of little pieces instead of running clean straight lines.
Here’s what I’d try:
First, turn off flood fill. Then run a preview and watch the path—chances are it’ll actually be faster just scanning left to right across the whole thing, even if that sounds less efficient. Flood fill is sneaky—it helps with small text or isolated bits, but it’s kinda awful with big simple shapes.
Second, try switching it from Fill to Offset Fill. That’s a killer option if you’re just burning that border wall and don’t care about filling the middle. You’ll get this nice spiral-style pass that runs around the inside like a racetrack instead of going line-by-line. Cuts time way down.
Go to the cut layer, change it to Offset Fill, and dial in your step to like 0.15 or 0.2 mm—something tight enough for a clean look but not overkill. That’ll eat way less time.
Also—if you’re duplicating it with a grid array and running both boxes back to back, make sure you’ve got “Cut inner shapes first” turned off if it’s not doing anything useful. Sometimes that adds more delay than it helps.
Oh wow! I must of had something wrong on my very first go through with offset fill. But finally got it to work. I did have “inner shapes first” on. I shut it off and man i went from 43 min. To like 12min for everything. There is text inside the outlines. Now the text take longer than the outline. Thanks for everyones help!!!
