As far as I can tell there are no visual clues material has been assigned to a layer in any of the dialogs on the right side of the screen.
In the cut / layer tab, add a column showing if material been assigned. Either a simple true/false indicator or changing the color of the description text, Something indicating and validating material is assigned. Ideally, a column showing the name/desc of the material assigned. You should be able to look at the layer list and immediately tell if material been assigned or not. Even better would be a 3rd indicator if the material settings been changed and not updated to the layer.
Just a small rectangle material status column before or after the description
Black if assigned, Red if assigned, but material been updated but not the layer, white no material assigned.
With an additional column with the actual material name would be ideal
Hi David, we donât take feature requests directly on the forum however, you can submit it to our Feature Request Site here in the future https://lightburn.fider.io/
However, before you do that, I believe what youâre asking for already exists in LightBurn - when you Assign a set of material settings, there is no linkback to the material setting profile. However, if you Link the material and the layer together, they are tied together. Material Library - LightBurn User Guide
Although my situation does not warrant using this feature, the request does make sense. When I played with it, I linked a material and the Layer settings changed. Yay, it worked.
But if I linked the wrong material, or the Layer settings got sucked in from another project, I would not know the Settings were not what I wanted. Add it to the feature request. I will vote for it.
I am aware of that, but you remove all the detail settings just to show the layer is linked. That space would be better utilized to show the layer details as it does when not linked. All those details are hidden just to for the sentence âlinked to {material} etc. â. It seems like a waste of valuable screen real-estate. I would prefer to see the layer detail settings in read-only mode rather then a sentence whose meaning could be conveyed by a column with colored rectangle. In fact all those settings being hidden caused me trouble by hiding the fact material thickness was not getting assigned. This is what triggered me to make this request, those details missing caused me some grief.
BTW, I looked everywhere for the feature request place and could not find it. I used the link you provided and entered my request there. ThanksâŚ
I did click on that, where does it say âAdd a Feature request?â. Two options to vote and one is a help screenâŚIf one of these options contain the âADDâ option should it not be listed here?
