Feature Request: Order by Group optimization does not Order, only Group

The optimization option “Order by Group” does not allow “ordering” only “grouping”.

Can the PgUp, PgDown options to move groups in the Z stack be made to work for ordering of the cut groups.

Or the Priority option in the shapes setting.

From using this option it appears the groups are cut in random orders.

My use case is I am cutting the details of multiple panels from one sheet. I want the details cut in groups first, then the panels all cut out at the end. The reason for this is to maintain maximum accuracy within each group.

I’m not sure, I follow exactly what you are suggesting here.

Are you familiar with all the options of the Cut Planer and Optimisation Settings?

If you can post a screenshot of the project file and explain the desired cut order, I’m happy to see whether your goals can be achieved with the existing settings.

I now see this request stemmed from your other post where we provided solutions.

“Order by Group” does not provide an order, it is more accurately “Cut By Group”.

The “Order by” implies it is possible to order groups using this option.

Instead you have to use Priorities set to the group and select “Order by Priority”

I’ve got a better handle on this than when I started, so I guess the request is change the text of “Order By Group” to “Cut By Group” so there is no expectation that you can order the group using this option.
