Fill Issue -- Bottom Portion of Letter won't fill or will fill wrong areas

I’m having an issue with my project and filling in the letter. For some reason the bottom portion is not filling. Please see image below:

The lower half is filled with open shapes and duplicates.

And the upper half also has a lot of duplicates.

Thank you so much! I tried to delete duplicates a few times but it couldn’t find any. Sorry for the trouble, this is my first project so I’m quite new. Thank you again!!
