Fill shifted when bi-directional engraving turned off

Recently I was running a job with very small text and I wasn’t happy with how crisp the text was engraving. So I paused and escaped the job and turned off bi-directional fill. I started the job back up where it left off using the preview and the engraving was shifted about a mm. I didn’t notice any difference in engraving quality so I paused and escaped the job again, turned back on bi-directional fill and the engraving was shifted back to where it originally was. I made a picture to show you what I mean.

I’m not sure why it would be shifted just because bi-directional engraving is turned off or on. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Try adjusting your scanning offset:

A recent LightBurn update applies that adjustment to both uni- and bi-directional fill. If you’re using an older version, now’s a good time to fetch the latest version.

Looks plausible.

I mis-remembered the fix for different offsets in uni- vs. bi-directional fill: it will appear in 1.8, so all available versions have the same issue.

This rather lengthy discussion explains what (I think) you’re seeing:
