Fill (text) with Tool Path

Objective: Have a Name (TEXT) with a specified line width etched deeply into acrylic.

So far. I found a single line font and added offset desired .17 on either side of the line for .34 groove width

Removed the original single line tool path.

Filled the text,AND IT WORKS!! BUT SLOWLY because to laser head moves across the entire piece, multiple passes.

QUESTION Can we fill the text (Closed Shapes) with a tool path and offset it with small intervals. This was done in my CNC days.
I have pictures but I see no way to add them to this topic.
Perhaps I can add them later.
Thank you in advance!

If I understand the desired results, set the layer to fill using ‘Offset Fill’ mode.

If I am missing it, share examples of what you are after, and we can go from there.

Make sure you have FLOOD FILL enabled, or go with the OFFSET FILL as mentioned above.

Flood Fill is intended for use where there is a lot of empty space, where the system will traverse without firing. Think, picture frame. From my view, the artwork shared is not the best candidate to benefit from using Flood Fill. There are additional things to consider when choosing to use Flood Fill.

If used on complex designs, Flood Fill can produce engraving paths that jump around a lot, and return later to fill in missed spots, which is why it can leave gaps if the machine isn’t well tuned. Use it sparingly, and use the Preview tool to see how the option will engrave your design so you aren’t surprised by the path it takes.

True, FLOOD FILL may not be the best approach, but it will keep the laser head from fully transversing the object for every pass. I am a fan of OFFSET fill - but sometimes the FLOOD FILL is as good as or better.
